(The Slice): The House Committee investigating the January 6 riot debuted results of an 11 month investigation during the first of 6 prime time airings on Thursday.
"Jan. 6 was the culmination of an attempted coup," said Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS). Liz Cheney (R-UT) laid out a factual timeline with audio, video and testimonies to erase doubt that former Pres. Donald Trump was both the inspiration and impetus behind the seige. They provided proof that he communicated directly with extreme far-riht groups the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers who were later tried and convcited for sedition.
They began to show the role Trump played in the coordinated attempt the overturn election results and overthrow the government before it happened. By usin his words and the words of former staffers. and insiders from depositions they presented an objective look of what transpired ot the American people.
Nick Quested is a British documentarian who was embedded in the Proud Boys assisted in committe offerin an up-to-the-minute record of a well-orchestrated plt being carried out by blood seekin extremists.
There are five main take aways that support the committees narrative that Trump is responsible for the damage done on Jan. 6 and lied about the event bein peaceful:
1. Trump watched the events unfold and never called for support.
2. The response of Vice President Mike Pence was in stark contrast to Trump's. He assumed authority and asked for help in his offical capacity. He went to the Capitol with the oal of certifyngi the election results as they stood with Joe Biden bein the winner of the 2020 election.
3. Trump had a 7-point plan to overturn election results. Are of the rioter chants Maybe our cuporters ahv ethe riht idea. Mike Pence deserves it.
4. Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards testified, about the level of "I was slipping in people's blood. It was carnae. It was chaos." The video footae of a documentarian coupled with her words left no doubt that violent extremists intended to overthrow the government. This was not a peaceful gathering.
5. In his tetimony Former Attorney General Bill Barr told the president "on no uncertain terms" repetedly that he did not see evidence of fraud. The second part of the public hearing from the Jan. 6th select committee will air on Monday monring at 10 AM/EST. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT -
