The White House launched a new Web site feature, THE BIDEN-HARRIS RECORD, just as former Pres. Donald Trump announced he will seek another term in office.
The timing of the launch was meant to deflate the announement and shift attention away from Mr. Trump whose power within the GOP is on life support after several candidates for whom he campaigned lost their elections.
Biden's team used the moment to leverage policies that attracted votes for Democrats and Republicans who won in the mid-terms.
The site is a "record" of the top accomplishments of the Biden-Harris Administration.
Highlights include the Inflation Reduction Act, the COVID-19 relief bill and protections for reproductive rights.
The results listed on the page are not few. Among them are the creation of 700,000 manufacturing jobs, gun violence prevention legislation, lower costs on energy and internet bills and lower employment rates for Blacks and Hispanics.
The job growth boon amid a pandemic in particular is a contrast to the Trump Adminstration's performance. Keeping strong manufaturing jobs at home in America's cities that
have been stripped of them is how Biden plans to demonstrate Trump's own slogan - to "Make America Great Again."
White House spokesman Andrew Bates touted the Admionistration's impact on the mid-term elections writing:
"The 6 House Republicans who supported the Bipartisan Infrastructure law and stood for re-election last Tuesday won. So did all of the Senate Republicans who voted for it and had 2022 elections.
Many of the congressional Republicans who backed infrastructure also voted for the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act that’s already bringing more manufacturing jobs back from overseas.
11 House Republicans who supported CHIPS won, and so did the Senate Republicans who voted for it and were in-cycle."
Trump, a leader who delayed the response to the Coronavirus pandemic, can not produce a similar record after serving 4 years in office while Biden has a bed of achievements on which to lay his confidence should he run.
A week ago at the White House Pres. Biden told reporters he is in no hurry to announce his bid for re-election but has stated he wants to run again. At that time he said it is a decision he will make with the input of his family.
