(The Slice): Veteran actress Christina Applegate has Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
The Emmy winning actress, perhaps known best for her role as Kelly Bundy on the FOX sitcom "Married WIth Children," revealed the diagnosis on Twitter late Monday.
The diagnosis is not new. She has just gone public with it.
She tweted, “Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a—hole blocks it.”
Continuing in a second tweet the 49-year-old television and film star requested privacy as she pushes through the illness.
“As one of my friends that has MS said ‘we wake up and take the indicated action’. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing.”
In 2006 Applegate had a masectomy for early stage breast cancer.
Applegate's acting career started in an soap opera alongside her mother when she was a child. She currently stars in "Dead to Me" on Netflix which is in its third and final season. She wrote her exprience with breast cancer/removal into an episode of the show.

The National MS Society says that MS" interferes with the transmission of nerve signals between the brain and spinal cord and other parts of the body." It is an unpredictable disease that causes physical and cognitive decline. The cause for MS is unknown, but scientists believe that a combination of environmental and genetic factors contribute to its development. The symptoms do not present the same from one person to the next and most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50. There are more than 2.3 million MS sufferers worldwide. Almost 1 million people over the age of 18 have been diagnosed with MS in the US.
