(The Slice): The Food and Drug Admonistration on Friday announced it will extend Pfizer and Moderna boosters to all adults. Every American over the age of 18 who has received full vaccinations can get the booster at least 6 months after the second shot. For those who received teh johnson and Johnson shot, the Doctors had anticipated the two MRNA vaccines would come with a booster from the start.
The approval comes as cases are rising in parts of the country with lowere vaccination rates during this new season. AS of Wednesday cases had risen to 88,000 per day over the last two weeks.
Dr. Antony Fauci is pushing for everyone to get the booster because there is evidence of waning immunity. The third shot greatly increases virus antibodies the doctor says.
There is still debate about wheter boosters will be necessary annually.
