HEALTH ALERT: HHS declares Monkey Pox a public health emergency



Americans are faced with dualing health crises as the US Department of Health and Human Services declares Monkey Pox a public health emergency it was announced in a White House Press briefing on Thursday. The CDC as recorded 6600 cases nationwhide, which they acknowledge could be higher due to testing limitations.. White House Press Sec. Karine Jean Pierre noted the number is not anywhere near the rate of the COVID spread; however, it is important to recognize it for funding purposes -- to supply vaccinations. There has been a Monkey Pox outbreak in the past, anoter factor in how Washington has responded.


Monkey Pox is a viral infection characterized by a bumpy rash that is most common among men who have sex with other men. But experts warn it could eventually spread to the broader population.


The World Health Organization delcared on July 23 that Monkey Pox is a public health emergency of international concern.


California, Illinois and New York lead te nation in cases and have all declared a state of emergency.
