Jennifer Hudson just added the "T" to EGO to become only the third Black person in history to become an EGOT winner. EGOT stands for Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. The multi-faceted star, 40, entered the prestigious ranks when she won a Tony Award Sunday night for producing credit on the Tony Award winnin best musical, "A Strange Loop."

It was 2007 when the Chicago native won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls. She got a step closer to EGOT winning a Best R&B album Grammy for her 2008 self-titled debut album. It was in 2021 that she was recognized in a non-performance capacity when she got a Daytime Emmy for producing on the animation "Baba Yaga." FInally she lent her creative energy to "A Straneg Loop" winning as one of 44 people given producer credit. She follows Whoopi Goldber and John legend as the first two Blacks to achieve EGOT level.
At the age of 7, JHud wrote a report saying she would be famous one day. As an adult she dreamt of playing the late Aretha Franklin. She never gave up on her dreams and they both manifested.
Years ago she quipped, “I got a dog and named it Oscar, and then I won my Oscar. And then I got a dog and named it Grammy, and then I won my Grammy,” she said. “So I think I should get some dogs and name them Emmy and Tony — and it’ll give me good luck, and I’ll win [They’re] like my good luck charms.” It wasn't the luck of fury friends that lifted her to the rare honor. It was sheer talent.
