On Monday morning, the Senate Judiciary Committee convened to vote to recommend Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the full senate for a final vote. Jackson will likely be confirmed with the endorsement of one Republican, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine. She would become the 116th Justice. Many Republicans oppose her nomination claiming they do not what type of SCOTUS she will be. Senator John Coryn of Texas has accused her of refusing to share her judicial philosophy and aligning with the progressive agenda. The Senate voted to confirm the sole Black represented on the High Court, Clarence Thomas on October 15, 1991 by a vote of 52-48.
