Atlanta-based Pastor Jamal Bryant slammed HerschelWalker before an audience of HBCU and faith-based voters during Sunday service on Oct. 30. "In 2022 we don't need a Walker, we need a runner," he said. He associated the last name of the Georgia senate candidate to a physical walking instrument designed for people who are otherwise immobile.
"Republicans moved Walker back from Texas to run becasue they thought we are so slow and so stuopid that we would elect the lowest caricature of a stereotypical broken Black man. . . .Since Herschel Walker was 16 years old, white men been telling him what to do. You think they are not goig to tell him how to vote?"
His remarks tied in to a sermon about a healed person continuing to rely on something she no longer needed. The person's plight was analogised to Black Georgia voters who still posses an antelbellum slavery mindset. Weeks earlier Mr. Walker tied his opponent , Rev. Raphael Warnock, in a debate polls despite controversy over him paying for th abortion of several ex-girlfriends. Not only is Warnock a Morehouse College graduate, but also he is the leader of MLK's historic Ebeneezer Baptist Church. Walker was a star athlete who has no political experience.

Mr. Walker followed up the single debate he had against the senator by blastin him at a church. He doubled down on accusations that Warnock had evicted low-income tenants from housing managed by the church. Columbia Towers is a husing community for the disadvantaged and has been sued for evicting tenants for as little as $30. The "false charges they created are not true." When asked directly if he was saying the allegations were not true he responded, "I am syaing that my opponent and his allies are busy trying to sully Ebeneezer Batist Church."
Despite the debate moderator citing several lawsuits were filed against Warnock's ministry, Bryant listed several reasons Black Georgia Democrats should vote for Warnock including the need for condemining the Jan. 6 insurrection, student debt cancellation and someone who will make former Pres. Donald Trump respond to a subpoena. He painted Walker as a puppet who operates as a "yes man" for the white Republian establishment.
Before transferring to Atlanta to become the pastor of New Birth Cathedral, Bryant was a Maryland pastor and has been an avid leader in the Black community on social justice concerns.
