(The Slice): The coughing that left reporters concerned after a Friday morning speech from Pres. Joe Biden is not a sign of serious illness according to a memo from the White House Physician. The president has a cold. That is something he has in common with thousands, if not millions of Americans right now. He caught it from one of his grand kids the White House says and like most of us he is treating the common ailment with over the counter meds.
Unlike most of us, the White House Physician. Dr. Kevin O'Connor released a memo (with the president's permission) explaining his level of congestion and the steps taken to make sure he does not have something more alarming like a respiratory illness or the dreaded Coronavirus. The physician's letter may have been released to keep the nation calm.
In these crazy COVID times, keeping a sense of calm is crucial. It may come across as in over-reaction, but knowing your leader is healthy and strong could at ease some of the anxiety looming over the pandemic. For many people who care about Mr. Biden, getting official confirmation that he does not have the dangerous Coronavirus is comforting. Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters the president will maintain his regular schedule and perhaps have some tea.
