Congresswoman Nancy Mace invited Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett outside when she referred to her as a child. "Chile, listen," Crockett said in a committee hearing. Offended, Mace cut her off and began shouting about being called a child. Sadly, this happened as Crockett was proposing the restoration of a sub-committee on Civil Rights for all Americans. Since Mace has been trumpeting laws against transgenderism, Crockett pointed out the civil liberties committee that was removed would be for everyone. Matthew Frost pointed out Mace incited violence against a peer, which is against the rules. Mace said she was exercising free speech.
From using the word "child," a colloquialism Blacks use regardless of age, to the blown up reaction, decorum was tossed out the window. Such disrespect and unseemly conduct is increasing in Congress and feeds into more threats and insults. Last year an Oklahoma representative, Shun Mullins challenged Teamster president to a fist fight.
The committee head struck the gavel and called for order.
Crockett has gone viral frequently by calling out her Republican counterparts but this was the first instance where she was challenged to a fight.
