SURVIVING EVICTIONS: Where to get the unclaimed money when the eviction moratorium ends on July 31



Millions of Americans fear homelessness as the end of the eviction moratorium approaches this weekend. The federal government has made funds available on the local and state level that are unclaimed, perhaps because people do not know how to locate the resources. The CFPB rolled out a tool this week that enables searched to find where to get financial assistance for rent in their local area. Read on for the details. . .


(THE SLICE): On July 31, the eviction moratorium extended by the CDC will conclude. Due to the spread of the new Delta variant Pres. Joe Biden desired to further extend rental assistance, but a Supreme Court ruling blocked another round of CDC assistance.


People are scared of the uncertainties of what will happen if they lose their home in a worsening pandemic. Landlords are also worried about their own survival unable to collect rental payments.


Fortunately, the White House says the Evictions Rental Assistance program will not expire.

Funds are available to help renters evade homelessness.


The government has partnered with multiple agencies to relieve the burden on both landlords and tenants announcing a call to action on Wednesday to government agencies, companies, advocates, nonprofits, the faith community, to spread the word about this new tool and make sure that renters and landlords are able to access the available rental assistance.


The Consumer Protection Bureau has stepped up to provide rental assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. State and local organizations are distributing federal rental assistance in their communities. To learn where to find assistance in your area go to (www.consumerfinance.gov/renthelp).


To take advantage of the tool that allows you to find rental assistance in your area visit The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) online at (www.consumerfinance.gov/renthelp) that allows renters and landlords to find rental assistance programs in their area.
