(TSN):
Kirby has made his rounds in Washington as the former spokesman for both the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon. He is affable, knowledgeable and a respected leader. Recently he has unofficially played the co-press secretary role answering questions primarily on foreign affairs, an area that he has more experience on than KJP. She has handled mainly domestic questions and has not appeared to mind relying on her colleague's expertise.
At first Kirby appearing with some regularity made sense. With two wars going on and a myriad of questions on foreign affairs his involvement was useful for reporters as is the advice of other administration officials who are occasionally invited to brief on various subject matter.
The two spokespeople work together in the presence of the public but privately their relationship is tense Axios reports.
It is sometimes evident in body language and facial expression that Jean Pierre is eager to take the reigns back.
When Mr. Kirby showed back up on day one of a fresh year it gave the impression of permanence.
Yet, Jean Pierre has said she is in the job because FIrst Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Pres. Biden want here there and she plans to stay.
Unlike her predecessor Jen Psaki who gave her a vote of confidence, the 35th White House was "greener' with face-to-face interactions with the press. She worked in politics and holds a Master's Degree in Public Affairs.
Speculators are saying Kirby may be auditioning for KJPs job. If she needs back up she has a team. The Slice will keep an eye on the situation to see how it unfolds this year.
