From George Washington to George Bush, the faces of American presidents have been displayed in the White House.
The image of one former Commander-In-Chief has been noticeably absent. That will change today, as six years after completing two terms in the White House, Pres. Barack Obama and First Lady Micelle Obama return to the residence for the unveiling of their official White House portraits.
"Over the course of their eight years together in office, a close partnership between the two men grew through the highs and lows of the job and life," press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, told reporters in Tuesday's daily briefing.
The White House Historical Association is responsible for planning the portrait unveiling and say that the timing is up to whoever is the leader at the time.
Smithsonian Museum portraits in their honor were revealed before they left office. However, as The Slice News previously reported while working during the Trump Administration, Obama's successor did not make a portrait reveal a priority.
Obama, the 44th president and first Black president in AMerica hosted a portrait unveiling for George W. and Laura Bush during his first year in office.
Obama will be hosted by his former vice president, the now President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill along with the first woman leader in te White House Vice President Kamala Harris and First Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
This event will be a historic first.
