Will Smith smacks Chris Rock at the Oscars

Oscar nominated actor Will Smith physically assaulted comedian Chris Rock during the live broadcast of the 94th Academy Awards. After being punched in the mouth, Rock continued with presenting duties. Smith walked back to his front row seat and yelled at the comedian.

Rock had jokingly said that Jada Pinkett Smith looked like she could play in the sequel to G.I. Jane, referring to her shirt hair cut. After the punch, Rock said, "Oh wow. Will Smith just smacked the s*it out of me."

The couple remained in the audience for the remainder of the event while it appeared security was stationed on the stage.

Pinkett Smith has been open about having alopecia, a disease of the scalp that causes hair loss. She has worn a shaved hair style in the past.

The highest moment of his career may also be the lowest.

The award winning actor apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees but never mentioned Chris Rock.

Will Smith is nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams in "King Richard."
